Dear Colleagues

We would like to let you know that Caucasus Institute of Gestalt Therapy and Family Psychotherapy (CIGTFP) were officially registered in 2012 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Institute in itself unites two major trends of Psychology such as Gestalt Therapy and Family Psychotherapy, and throughout the region creates a single, innovative, professional, post diploma education training Institute. At the same year Institute became the Associated Member of European Association of Gestalt Therapy (EAGT).
Goal of the Institute is the introduction of Gestalt Therapy and Family Psychotherapy in Caucasus Region, educational activities, advocacy of the abovementioned direction of psychotherapy and endorsement of this method in the clinical practice and in different fields of services.
Psychology as a science, introduced by Mr. Dmitry Uznadze, has a long term history in Georgia. He has developed and implemented in practice "Theory of Attitude and Set ", which is considered one of the huge achievements of Psychology. He led the first scientific institution in Georgia in the field of Psychology, which was later transformed into the Institute of Psychology.
Despite the fact that psychology and psychotherapy in Georgia and the Caucasus region is constantly developing, it still does not meet international standards. The newly formed Institute will support the implementation of European and American standards of Psychology and Psychotherapy in Caucasus region and will help professionals and interested persons to receive the education in accordance to International standards in Psychotherapy, to improve their skills, and to join various professional unions. Among them: European Association of Psychotherapists, American Psychological Association, European Association of Gestalt Therapy (EAGT) and etc. All this will enable them to have contact with leading professionals of the world and therefore have opportunity for constant personal and professional growth.
4-year training program in Gestalt Therapy was developed in close collaboration with accredited trainers of European Association of Gestalt Therapy (EAGT) and meet all Training standards of EAGT.
Currently, with cooperation of specialists of the network of Virginia Satir Systemic Family Psychotherapy and Institute for International Connections (USA) we have an intensive working for the elaboration of 4-year training program in Family Psychotherapy in order to meet all internationally approved standards.

With respects,
SophiaVerulashvili,
General Director of
